Nursery
A lovely Day Nursery busy educating and caring for children from 12 weeks to 5yrs. With daily visits to the farm and woodland walks it’s an idyllic setting to inspire the children.
Play Areas
A good place for the kids to let off steam, conveniently situated by the restaurant and snack shack, so mum and dad can grab a well deserved coffee, cake and relax on one of the many picnic benches dotted around the play area!
Shop
Farm gift shop to buy a memento of your day, also selling a large range of farm toys and sets, cuddly toys and a range of jams, chutneys and treats for mum and dad.
Farm House & Barns
The 1850's brick farm house and barns. The hub of the working farm. Out of bounds!
Family Paddocks
A large lawn area surrounded by ponds and trees offering dappled shade. The ideal spot for a picnic or family game of football or cricket.
Restaurant
Our restaurant caters for all and offers a wide range of home cooked food with lite bite meals from £3.95 (including freshly made baguettes and jacket potatoes) to country meals from the specials board from £5.95. And a kids menu from £2.99 with choices from West Lodge's own pork sausage and mash to a healthy pic-nic box.
There are baby changing facilities in both the ladies and disabled toilets.
Ducks & Geese
A paddock full of rare breeds of geese and ducks that add that farm yard background noise which sets the place off!
Cloisters
A large cloistered barn with covered walkway around the animal pens, usually containing lambs, goats and piglets. Also home to the famous West Lodge Piglet Race.
Classroom
At weekends and school holidays the classroom is often used for kids craft activities.
Hens
A selection of commercial and rare breeds of chickens laying eggs for the shop. Hens, houses, feed and equipment are also available for sale for those that would like fresh eggs straight from their back garden.
Pigs
In the piggery there is a selection of rare breed sows including Tamworths, Saddlebacks and British Lops, as well as Borris the boar. A very busy place with new litters of piglets every 6-8 weeks.
Animal Paddocks
The paddocks set at the heart of the farm park are where you can see flocks of sheep, rare breeds of cattle, goats and ponies.
To Walks & Trails
This path leads to the caterpillar tunnel and gully, the troll bridge, wildflower meadow, wildlife ponds and poplar wood.

Play Barn
A barn filled with trikes, sand pit and small play frames for those less favorable weather days!
Cuddle Corner
Home to the farms cute &fluffies. With a daily timetable of animal activities to help you get closer to the animals.
Demo Barn
A 120 seat display barn with daily activities and seasonal demonstrations such as lambing and sheep shearing.
Den Making Area
Under the canopy of a huge Horse Chestnut tree, make dens and shelters with the sticks, branches and brush. Also known as the dad crèche.
Barrel Ride
The Ever popular Barrel Ride. A free tractor train ride that runs around the outdoor play area. Leaving from the station at every half past the hour.
Pedal Tractors
For those budding tractor drivers. A concreted park to tootle round on John Deere pedal tractors, with trailers and bark chip in the middle they'll be kept busy transporting piles from one place to another.
Goats
The mischievous goats are great favourites with all the family, particularly with their antics on goat mountain. They are also great fun and safe to feed with the children.
Animal Activities
Every day there is a time table of fun educational activities for families to have a got at, such as meet the chicks, groom a pony, piglet racing, cuddle a rabbit, bottle feed lambs ( spring ), milk the wooden cow and much more. Visitors are always surprised when they leave the farm as not only did they have many fun experiences, but also learnt something new. During activities contact with the animals is encouraged in a safe environment and our staff are always at hand to help and answer any questions.
Farm Animals
At West Lodge as well as being a working mixed farm we are interested in ensuring the continuation of rare British breeds and this is reflected in the variety of sheep, cattle and pigs you will see around the farm in the paddocks and under cover in the five barns around the park.
In the paddocks you can see we have a variety of rare breed cattle, the children love to see all different shapes, sizes and colours and learn about the different breeds. Our forty strong commercial beef herd are pedigree Ruby Red Devon's, an old and rare breed prized for it's marbled full flavoured beef. Our commercial flock of sheep contain Southdowns and Suffolks which will mature to have long fluffy coats. There is also a variety of other sheep to see from Longwools and Wensleydales. In the pig sty's you will see our Saddle back, Tamworth, Gloucester Old Spot, Berkshire and British Lop sows along with Borris the boar. And with new litters being born every 6-8 weeks there are always lots of little piglets running around. Also in the paddock you will also see our donkey Star, our ponies Cracker and Sparky and three Shetland ponies, Poppy, Max and Egg.
Over at goat mountain and we have three breeds of goat angoras, pygmies and mongrels. They are all very friendly and happy to greet you, especially if you have a bag of animal food.
In cuddle corner we have many breeds of rabbit and guinea pigs and don't forget our impressive collection of ducks, chickens and geese who regularly hatch out new arrivals!
Play Areas
There is a well equipped out door play area with swings, climbing frames, slide, seesaw and sand pit. A large toy pedal tractor park. Play barn for less favourable weather. A den making area to build shelters in and a Christmas tree copse to play hide and seek in. All conveniently situated by the restaurant and snack shack, so mum and dad can grab a coffee and a sit down while the kids run some energy off.
Barrel Ride
A very popular FREE tractor train ride that runs twice around the perimeter of the play area at every half past the hour. Queue up at the station and wait for the bell. Small children may have to be accompanied by an adult.
Tractor Trailer Tours
During the main season ( weather permitting ) there is a real tractor trailer tour of the farm. Excellent for the tractor fans, those that would like to see the beautiful countryside without the trek or those interested in the on board commentary from the driver pointing out wildlife, farming and local historical features along the way. £1 per ticket.
